I read somewhere that the Porsche belts are of a different construction, though I can't remember the source, and there was nothing specific. It could just be marketing, or even changing some useless bits so they can say the Porsche belts are different and cost more. I dunno.
I have used a set of the universals and they look good and work well. I plan to buy a set for my 911 when the time comes.
I would send them an email (and provide us with the answer)! They're good people and responsive.
