1980 Porsche 924 wont idle
My car will ignite whilst turning the starter, getting up to 1800 rpm and then dies as soon as I take my key out or the 3rd position. But it has idled for a couple seconds at 1000 rpm and then dies. She does ignite nearly every time I turn the key too.
What has been replaced(All works):
Fuel pump
Fuel pump relay
Fuel filter
Fuel distributor
1 Fuel Injector + Line
I did take out the MAF to put in the new Fuel Distributor so I wouldn't damage anything, but the MAF did get stiff. I had to lubricate it with some WD 40 so it would move. It also "Bounces" when lifted and dropped, if that means anything.
I'm going to be replacing the ignition switch to eliminate that(having a little difficulty getting to it not going to lie..), but besides that im at a loss. Maybe the Fuel/air ratio is off? Maybe the MAF is too stiff/loose? Maybe I have a vacuum leak?
(Later Thoughts w/ some research)
Could it honestly be just a vacuum leak? I've heard that even a tiny one can make your 924 run like trash or not start at all..
OR is there a way to test if the fuel pump runs after the initial start? Maybe im not getting any gas at all. Pull the injectors and test?
OR I have a thick red wire with a black strip coming out of the fire wall thats not connected, same with a yellow one and two grounds if my memory doesn't defeat me. Could that be the cause? Im not really the best with electrical diagrams. I couldn't find a use for the wires.
