My PO had Riviera's and Firestone 195-60/15's up front and 195-60/15's Goodyears out back. They are a fairly good fit, but these car do vary quite a bit between each other.

I'd say 195's are a safe bet, but I've heard of at least one person who could only put 185's on Riv wheels. The problem is the Riv is actually made to fit the Bettle, which has a different offset than the 914. That is why most 914 stock wheels will fit a 205 and aftermarket (like my German ATS mags) only fit a 195mm tire.

Best thing it to have the tires mounted at a store that will allow you to test them (meaning you mount them, then lower the car, don't drive it, but lower it and see if it rubs) and if they rub put on smaller tires without charging you for the tires. You will most likely have to pay for the mounting and re-mounting though.
