I don’t know about the amp in an 89, but the iPhone connection you are referring to is called Bluetooth. On the TR7412, there is a microphone hole on the front of the unit. It also comes with the writing and mic for a remote mic install. I made a call with the car off and the person heard me fine, have not tried yet with the car running. I’m assuming the engine noise will be a bit of an issue.
