Interesting story....
My guess is he didn't want 'you' to own it - for whatever reason.
He probably would be sicker seeing it show up houses away with you driving it.... just a guess here.
I have a buddy with a 50+ car collection. I'm talking SS camaros, vettes, you name it.
People pop in and ask him to sell all of he time. He says his favorite word is 'NO.'
