I recently tested my collapsible spare. A big non-event. I filled it with my portable air tank until round, let it stad a bit to see if it kleaked, and then pushed the air release button and, as if by magic, the unit folded itself up again.
The way I figure, I usually have my cell phone. If the tire can get me closer to a safe detination, that's better but I have a backup plan as well.
