The engine "jumps" from 3000 to 5000 rpm. I have tried to keep it under the 5300 mark since the re-build and just passed 1000 miles. I have just hit 6000 RPM in the last day and it felt great! The stock CIS seems to work fine with the added displacement and the 964 cams help to make it jump from 3 to 6k RPM. I look forward to adjusting the valves and changing the oil this weekend,,,,, so I can run it some more!
