5E38 code, Rotational Rate Sensor
Hello. I have a 2001 E46 convertible. I get the DSC and brake light in Amber often followed by a split second braking which scares the heck out of you. I changed the what is referred to as the yaw sensor which didnt do anything. I am guessing it’s the lateral sensor. Please let me know your thoughts if I am right and where it is located. Everyone says in front of the front seat, but it’s not. Now I’m reading under the dead pedal at the A pillar. Perhaps the verts are different than sedans in location? Also, is it plug and play or require programming? Thanks

My mom's '01 wagon is doing the the same thing. I replaced all 4 wheel speed/ABS sensors which did not help. Going to research lateral sensor now. At least good to know it's not the yaw sensor (or the wheel sensors). Please anyone post solution when found.
