Rear Fog Lights

That time of year again in Oregon, crappy, and I've been noticing a few cars with rear fog lights, one bright tail light, like in Europe.

I have a 2001 330i and am wondering if there is a simple way to get the rear fog light working on it. Is it as simple as plugging a light bulb into an empty socket?

Anybody looked into this?

I searched the web and found a few articles.

Search for "e36 bmw rear foglight" or just "bmw rear foglight" on Google.

The instructions didnt seem simple but certainly do-able.
