I am doing the brakes on my wifes 2004 325 wagon for the first time. 4 rotors, pads, and sensors. Is this straight forward or is there anything special I should know? The car has the sport package. Does it have the same rotors as non Sport package?(they wear really fast)
Thanks in advance, Rich

Nothing special.
Most common issue is pulling the rear rotor. All the rotors may be seized on but the rear usually is stuck extra hard by the integrated rear drum E-brake. Hit the rear rotor with a big hammer (BFH) or better yet a dead blow hammer. Make sure the E-brake is released of course. What wore really fast the pads or rotors? The rotors will last two sets of pads easily. The sensors don't need to be replaced unless the warning light came on. You need two hex sockets or at least allen wrenches. 5 and 6mm IIRC. Make sure to check the dust boots around the pistons. Lube everything and put anti-squeal on the backs of the pads.

Thanks Jeron
When I look at the rotors I can see a lip where the pads don't make contact on the edge. The dealer replaced the pads and rotors under warrenty so I thought the rotors would need to be replaced as well. The light is not on yet but it is comming up to about the same mileage as when it needed brakes last time . Rich

BMW recommends replacing the rotors with each set of pads. Under normal circumstances, they wont hit min spec until after at least two sets of pads.
