Question 325xi 2A3F Code and Limp Home Mode

My bimmer suddenly went into limp home mode when accelerating onto an onramp yesterday. The codes shown by my scantool are:

2a3f valvetronic actuator motor: power supply
2a9f camshaft sensor exhaust synchronization

As a simple check I swapped the intake/exhaust camshaft sensors but the code didn't switch from the exhaust to intake side so I'm guessing that code is somehow related to the other. I've done some reading on your forums and have read that the 2a3f code is commonly displayed incorrectly by cheaper scan tools. The last 7 digits of my VIN are KV05847 can you tell me if this is true in this case?

I've reviewed a vvt wiring diagram and have visually traced vvt wires+fuses from the battery to the motor, all LOOK fine but I have not busted out a multi meter yet. If this code is real, I'm guessing this should be my next step? Any other suggestions? What voltages should I be seeing?

Thanks in advance!!
