I have a 2000 540iA and notice this on the owner's manual when checking the power steering fluid. It says "Contact your BMW if the fluid is low, since only ATF may be used and special knowledge is required for topping up." I have two questions. 1. What special knowledge are they talking about? I do all the maintenance myself and will just pour ATF if needed.2. What kind of ATF they use for this car? Any info from anyone will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Peter...

I think these cars had a sealed system which means you couldnt fill it up. of course i may be wrong about this.

Oh no, it's not sealed. The p/s fluid reservoir is similar to my '91 325i.
