NOS on a 97 528i
Does anyone have any info on putting nos in a 97 528i auto??? I am just trying to get alittle more power out of the car. Please let me know if there is anyone or anywhere I can get info on this. What will I run into?

The wall if your not careful. No, really explore other options. Ther many other ways to get more performance from your car. You can chip it, you can play withe the exhaust sytem, the fuel mgmt, the air intake. I'm sure by days end this thread will fill up with other ideas as well. keep checking back but IMHO no need for the NOS. OH and dont forget as most people do when you mod for speed you still need to STOP. And furthermore remember speed and power cost $$$$$$$.

There's an old rule of thumb for NOS, for every second you run it, you lose 10K miles off the life of your engine. To run NOS correctly, you need to build the motor with stronger rods, pistos, etc.. And if you are going that route, you might as well just get better cams, up the CR, head work, etc....
I personally see NOS as a waste of money and engine life. sure its great to have that sort of acceleration on the dragstrip, but just when are you going to use it on the street? What really irks me is how people see movies like Fast and The Furious and think that NOS is the answer to all their questions. It's not. That movie was SO innacurate. |
