Question E28 ABS glitch

Hi- I have a very frustrating problem with the abs sensors on my 1987 525e (528e in US). I recently had to park my car up on a curb and as the left hand front wheel went up onto the curb, the rear wheels spun momentarily and the abs warning light came on.

Since then when I start the car the abs light comes on at start up
and will not go out until i reach approx 20 mph.until the light goes out, the brakes lock and judder very badly and i have had to remove the relay to disable the abs system.
the problem i have is that no bmw dealer in ireland has the correct diagnostic equipment for the e28's abs system (only a handful of e28s were imported in the 80's) and i need to find out which sensor has gone haywire-does anyone know of a way of testing the sensors with a multimeter or similar as the only alternative is to ship the car to England or start replacing expensive parts one by one until the fault is cured-neither of which appeals to me!

I'd be grateful for any ideas you guys might have-I'm getting desperate!!!

congratulations to Pelican,b.t.w.,for an excellent site-keep up the good work! cheers,

Hmm.. have you cleaned the sensors?

You might want to inspect the trigger wheels for cracks...
