Automatic Windshield Wiper Sensor Adjustments
Being a Newbie to this forum, I hope this isn't a question that has been asked 1000 times before.
I have a 2000 540i on which the automatic wiper setting does not work. When set there, it cycles once, and then never again. The windshield is clean, and I have tried both with and without RainX on the sensor area. My questions is if this is something that can be adjusted, and how. Thanks! Steve |

Do you have a rain sensor?
If you change the speed of it while activated, does it wipe again? Cheers

Nothing happens regardless of speed and position of the 'sensitivity' dial on the stalk. Nothing happens even if I spritz water on the window over the sensor by the rear-view mirror mount.
The wiper first fires when the stalk is moved to the auto position, but nothing after that. Steve |

Sorry I didn't see the sensor part. I'm "guessing" it's a relay issue, but call a dealer or known wrench and ask them to fax you details on this service bulletin:
611300 OCT 00 Windshield Wipers - Various Malfunctions Maybe it will help.
