Help... Identify coolant temp sensor and sender plugs

90 525i 119k

On my thermostat housing I have two sensors... one I know goes to the gauge and one goes to the computer.... one plug is black and one is brown...

Can anyone tell me the proper way to hook this up?

I did not pay attention to how they came off, figured that each one was keyed differently so the plugs would only fit the one sensor... I was wrong... the plugs are interchangeable...

If you have any electrical test equipment, compare the out put of each sensor, and if they are the same, they might be interchangeable. Sometimes BMW dealerships are friendly and helpful.
