Why would you do this?

You don't plan to filter the fuel at all?

had me going there.

Actually, on my 528 there were rubber hoses connected to the fuel filter. Use a clamp of sorts to pinch the lines off and then undo the hose clamps and remove the old filter. Installation is the reverse. Just don;t take off the picnhers until you have the new one installed and the hose clamps tightened. Start the car and check for leaks before putting the panels back on the car.

You will need to clamp the fuel lines to keep fuel from dumping out onto the ground. Buy fuel line clamps 9bets option) or use vice-grips wrapped in tape or small c-clamps.

Thing that could go wrong:
fire
fuel in the eyes
torn fuel line

Go slow and that your time.
