Head Warped
I am new here, picked up a 528i with a bad head gasket. Pulled the head and it is definitely warped. Does anyone know the max this can be milled without creating an issue with the valves? Looks like between 14 and 15 thousandth is what I would need to do to make it flat.

There is "slop" to reduce the head plus you can buy an oversize gasket if necessary.
Get the over size gasket options, then ask your machine shop. I am sure you will be fine.

on most bmw heads there is a non-sensical casting in the head aside from the head type casting it should read 17 thereabouts whatever the number is, is what the max is without hg
this casting is typically located on the intake side in the corner. it will be very easy to find |
