I have own a 2005 530i and the recent problems I have noticed is that the AC takes a while to start blowing cold air then when it kicks in its fine as long as I am going a decent rate of speed. If I get to stop in go movement it will start to cool at a slower pace and higher temperature even though it is blowing. One thing else is if I engage the auto temperature setting it will cool initially much faster but still quite some time before you will feel an effect especially in the heat of summer days. Really would like to have some idea of causes prior to the 100 buck check and then high price repair report bound to follow.

You could have a few different issues, from a defective cooling fan to a low refrigerant charge. I think an A/C system dignosis is in order.
