Need help with fixing trunk switch.

I have a 98 540 and yesterday the trunk switch you press to open the trunk from the outside quit working. Does anyone know if this part can be purchased my itself and is it easy to replace.

Double check to see you haven't locked the trunk. When the button is in the locked position it will push in but not funtion. I had my lock stick once while attempting to unlock it. I thought the lock was broken. I played with the key a couple of times and it started to work. Your experience may not be the same.

Is this the outer push-button switch you're talking about?

I've seen these stick from not being greased, or because they have started to rust a bit. Can you get the trunk open by itself? I think that these latches are an easy replacement part.

Pelican doesn't appear to have their 1997- catalog ready yet, but I know that they can usually order stuff not on the site.

If you look closely at the rubber part of the button it probably has popped out at the edge....glue the lip back under the metal of the trunk & it should work

I concur with Cowboy - my friend had a similar problem. Some epoxy solved it 1-2-3!
