Brakejob
Getting ready to change the brakepads on my 2000 740IL. Any little tricks I need to know about? Hoping this is just a standard job like it is on most cars. Also, anybody know of any repair manuals out there for this year and model?

This is a relatively straightforward job, similar to all other BMWs. This link is a good how to for you to read.
The repair manual for the E38 (95-01 7Series), is only available on CD-ROM called the TIS for Technical information System. These are available from the official BMW reseller Central Letter Shop for @ $115.00. There is another Cd that many people like to have when working on these cars called the ETK (or EPC) for Electronic Parts Catalog. This si also available from Central LEtter Shop for @ $98.00. Follow the link below to find them on the web These can be found all over Ebay for lots less but I don't know if they are official originals or bootlegged copies. In any case the choice is yours.
