94 740IL Locks

The battery on this car has died (guess I should drive it more often) and now I can't open any of the doors. The key turns in the locks (both front doors and the trunk) but the locks don't disengage. I called the dealer and their service people told me that there is an exterior release under the door handle (never found it) and that there is an exterior hood release that can be accessed with a coat hanger above the driver's side headlight (can't find that either). I'd appreciate any help as to how I can hook up a battery charger when I can't get in the car, or how to get into the car so that I can recharge the battery.

Thanks

Here are instructions from a E34 owners manual. I'll bet yours is the same. It appears you lift the handle, then turn the key harder than normal in he unlock direction.

Thanks very much for the assistance Jeron, but it didn't work. I lifted the handles (both driver's and passenger's side) and twisted the key as hard as I dared, but no luck. I guess I'll have to jack the car up until I can find a hot wire I can use to charge the battery. Oh well... another project for the upcoming weekend.

Try the starter or the alternator for a good hot wire.

There must be a way to get the hood open.

Or better yet read this:

I cannot get the URL part thats should read maxf_website/freeyellow.com to print out correctly but there are procedures there to get her unlocked. After I got mine unlocked I added a wire around the hood release cable at the jaws with a finger loop above the drivers side high beam so I could yank the hood release open if i got stuck.
