'91 570IL Transmission Fill Location

My brother-in-law is trying to change the transmission fluid on his (new to him) 750 with the V12. He is unable to locate the fill location. I was wondering if anyone has any clues for me to pass on. Thanks.

If it is a ZF tranny, the ZF website had very good technical literature. It can be a bit hard to navigate the website though.

It looks like his is a ZF, 4HP24. I have some diagrams I downloaded from ZF but I dont know if they will help.

Hi

I just did this procedure on my 735 i.

Once you get to the part where you pull off the transmission pan you will see that the dip stick is the only input of any kind into the transmission.

I took a funnel and poured the fluid down the dip stick .

I do not think there is another way.

If there is a dip stick then you are good to go.

Does he already own the Bentley Manual for the BMW 7 Series? If not, it would be a great asset to have. The transmission fill is through the dip-stick tube. It will be located close to the right side firewall. It seems that most of the "fill" areas are on the right side, the A/C, washer fluids, oil, transmission. Some models had the oil filler cap moved to the front center of the V12 engine, instead of being on the right side valve/rocker cover. I too, have a 750iL, super nice cars!! If he does not have the Bentley Manual, I ended up with three copies. Good luck!! Tony.
