Guide Bushing Repair Kit assembly help
I recently purchased the rear caliper Guide Bushing Repair Kit for my 1988 M6. The kit comes without the white nylon? sleeve that needs to be installed inside the rubber? Guide Bushing. After it is taken apart, cleaned and the new rubber Guide Bushing re-installed in the caliper, what is the secret to installing the white nylon sleeve so it expands inside the guide bushing so the guide pin will fit in properly? Send me an email and I have photo if needed

If I would have looked closer the answer is simple. The original M6 rubber Guide bushings have a slightly larger internal diameter to accommodate the inner nylon sleeve. My orginal guide bushings were fine after I cleaned them up so put one set of each in 2 calipers to see how much play there was, and it's about the same; however, over time it's possible the new replacements without the nylon sleeve would not stand up as long, so since my originals are good and have stood the test of time I will clean them up and reinstall them. Since I was rebuilding the calipers I just thought I would replace all the parts but this works too. I did consider the Bronze bushings (available from Pelican) to reduce the caliper play, but did not want to have the additional maintenance task of frequent lubrication because they are not enclosed like the stock guide bushings are. So now you know too.
