Trans Program, but unusual problem with it

1993 740i 140k

Trans program as of late ALWAYS, without fail throws if I have the car in "D" and it goes to downshift while accelerating. Coming to a stop light doesn't seem to upset it, but if I'm cruising at speed, and accelerate enough to make the transmission downshift, the revs SHOOT to red line (as if in neutral) and then the trans program kicks in. This doesn't matter what gear I'm in.

But if I put the transmission into "S4", I never have any issues. Full blown acceleration, kick down in any gear, and no issues.

I cleaned the switch, replaced the Transmission Control Module, I don't know what the heck to do.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Valve body has been replaced a number of years ago, but there's no saying whether it's still good or not.

I definitely suspect speed sensor. Any way for me to diagnoise the speed sensors rather than just throwing "more" parts at it?
