My bimmer just stops running for unknown reason. I pull over to curb and it takes several attempts to restart before it actually does. This problem was once or twice over a year period but suddenly it happens several times a day. The last two mornings it does this also on first starting the car. several attempts. Sounds like it wants to start but doesn't until after trying 5-6 times. Any suggestions as to the cause?

sounds like an alternator
