Show your transporter, for the S.
We've had a thread on 'Show your S' and a thread 'Show your alternative transportation', how about a 'show your transporter' thread. What do you use to transport you S, creative ideas most welcome.
These arn't mine, I don't have one yet, but I'm looking for ideas from members here. From the utilitarian... To the extravagance... MarkC |

LOL.
Just wondering if anyone else in the US uses a passenger type van to transport their S. Unlike the European style tall vans I see everywhere, it seems US vans have a short, floor-to-roof measurement, but I'm not sure. Perhaps a pick-up would be an option, anyone use a short bed (6.5’) pick-up to haul their S? A trailer would seem to be the least costly. MarkC |

ok. i did a search and here i find something of what i'm looking for. my buddy has a truck and wants to possibly trailer his bikes out to the west coast later this summer.
so here's my question. what type or brand of trailer do you guys recommend for one or two bikes, if any? and where would you pick something like that up? maybe some pictures of your rigs with trailer? cool, thanks.

I bought one of these three years ago. My dad and I put it together in an afternoon. Not the greatest MC trailer, but easily worth the $500 I paid for it. It is sitting outside my hotelroom right now with the HawkGT on it - already unloaded the S, of course.
Absolutely no problems with this unit, I think we've put over 8000 miles on it now. http://www.kwmarketing.com/TC-two-LCI745TC62.htm Dave |

You might want to post a working link for the trailer..... Tomas

I have the short bed on my F-250 (6.7' I believe). I can get my RSL in there and close the tailgate (with the bike diagonal in the bed). The long bed on my old Nissan p/u worked great too. Better even. Takes two to get it into the F-250 because of the bed height. Two would be best on the Nissan, but you can get it in there yourself if you have to. Much lower.

If you plan on transporting a bike at any time, a point to remember (damhik) is not to support the bike on its sidestand while hauling. A good bump that sends the pickup or trailer into the air CAN come down hard enough to rip the sidestand bracket right out of the frame. I have seen this many times on dirt bikes in trucks and the occasional harley.
Even when hauling on a diagonal, use straps on both sides.

Buy a really big trailer (8x16, 8x20). They fill up just like a garage.
I started with a 6x12 Wells Cargo for the dirt racers, used it while road racing and then could not get three street bikes in it for the trips to NC. Bought a 8x16 (6.5 tall) tandem axle Express, a locally built trailer out of St Petersburg and a really noce trailer for about $5,000.00. It now hauls all the bikes and gear and if necessary I can actually work on a bike in the trailer.
