20 Years Old This Month

Had to smile yesterday dusted off the old girl changed the oil and we were out on her yesterday cruising along at 100 mph admittedly on not a very stock 1100 but still plenty of life in her.

Mine is nearly 18 and it still looks like new! Runs and rides way batter than stock. I get compliments every time I ride her. Still the best looking bimmer ever made!

Admirable you've owned the 11S that long, or any motorcycle for such a period of time! The most I have ever managed is 6-7 years.

I bought it secondhand so i’ve Only owned it 18 years in January the secret is multiple bike ownership it’s far cheaper in the long run it means the boredom factor never sets in I don’t ride one bike long enough but jumping from an 1100s to an X/R is interesting i’ll Tell you although ironically over 200+ miles the S is quicker having a modded tank.

Chris, congrats on the anniversary. Time flies without a doubt. Even with multiple bikes in the garage, I can't manage to keep anything for more than 3-4 years. The BCR is a record keeper, if you combine ownership times of #193 and 245 it's been over 5 years

Over the years I have had a very complicated relationship with my S and in the last couple days as we get ourselves ready to ride to the Aragon MotoGP my other half suggested we go on the 1100 but the weather looks hot and it would cruel on the old girl

I’ve been done with the bike more times than I can remember from the first day I collected realising it had a motor that wouldn’t pull me out of bed to it deadening my index fingers within 45 minutes the vibes were so bad.

It’s savings grace has been my Triumph Tiger too this day nothing fills me with greater horror than a bog stock 1100s but they really can be transformed or be it at a cost.

Depends on the person really. I'm still on my first car and my first motorcycle. I just hate the hassle of selling/buying. If it were as simple as snapping my fingers I'd probably have a new ride every few months.

By last April 1, I have owned my '82 R100 for 36 years and put all of the 200,000km's on her.
I've also owned my '97 Dodge Ram for 19 years.

Cheers

Chris, Happy Birthday to your '98. I've been on BMW twins since 1970 but on an 1100S for only 4 years. I appreciate the wealth of accumulated knowledge (and opinion!) that you share on this forum.

Yep mine has a creation date of Oct '98. But she looks it. Mechanically perfect but cosmetically challenged maybe time for her to get a new home. Maybe.

Mine is only 18. I still think the S is a great looking bike. Went hunting fall colors a couple days ago. Cameras still have trouble capturing the color.
