Setting Correct Timing W/O Cat-Code

Just wondering if pulling the cat code plug would throw off setting the timing properly. I have to bring my bike in for service, and was told by BMW tech that the timing was pretty far off, which caused the bike to backfire badly on decel . They couldn't adjust right away, and since then I pulled the cat-code plug. Gotta say it feels SO much better than before with regards to the on-off throttle response. ( thanks all) Anyway should I put it back in before the service, or is it ok to leave it out?

leave it out...they should never know the difference.

This has probably been asked before, but is there any benefit to leaving the cat code plug out if you already have an FIM chip installed in the Motronic unit?

well, i have answered it before, but.

the fim chip has the same map over all 8 possible maps, so it will make no difference. the ccp is used to change between maps with the std chip.

Ok that's what I thought, thanks Brad. Maybe I'll yank it anyway to save some weight. I'll do a comparison to see if the handling improves any.
