I've been using my Nikon D3400 with a Sigma 18-300 lens. have some other lenses also but don't travel with them. It takes alright/good pictures but it's bulky and sometime cumbersome on the bike. I took a compact camera on my Continental Divide Trail ride but the pictures where a grade lower than I'd like. I don't do phone/camera.

Ah, Mt. Rainier from Paradise.

I too find my D7100 big and heavy but it makes all the right noises.

Day 21 - Thompson Falls to Republic, WA 240 miles

While digging in the saddle bag for breakfast I found this lovely. No idea of its age-

We rode to Newport then up to Usk. The Flowery Trail was a nice drive going west to Chewelah. Stopped for gas and food again plus the church pic-

Caught a ride on the Gifford Ferry across Lake Roosevelt to Inchelium. Made our way to Republic for another nice sunset-

Day 22 - Republic to Windy Point 288 miles

This was supposed to be my last day on the road. While talking to Ralf I decided I wanted to show him some of central WA. Plus we have done North Cascade Hwy, I-90, Chinook Pass past Mt. Rainier and this idea would bring us into Seattle over Stevens Pass. South of Republic on Hwy. 21, Ralf asked if I have ever been on this road. Yes, 30+ years ago but I didn't remember any of it. So a 'new road' for me that I have been on before. We only saw five car in the hour it took to get to the Keller Ferry across lake Roosevelt-

We did a quick drive-by of Grand Coulee Dam. As we drove along the always enjoyable section next to Banks Lake I was retracing some of the route from Day 2 of this trip. From Ephata we used a different farming road to get to Royal City-

We managed to reach Windy Point with full supplies early enough to enjoy the nice afternoon. Real happy to get my favorite site too. It was windy when the neighbors started yelling and laughing as Ralf's tent tried to go for a drip in the river-

Child-like was at it again. "I want to cross the river to see the waterfall."
"Oh the one I can see while sitting at the picnic table."-

Since Ralf didn't have enough fun in the river he decided to climb up the hill across the road for a better view. I waited for awhile then went out to the parking lot and started looking for the body. My phone rings and he asks if I can see him. NO! His description was I am by a big rock, under a cliff of rocks, above a tree, on a steep unstable slope and right in front of you. That description covered about everything in the 180º view in front of me. After about 10 minutes using the full zoom on my camera I found him-

Day 23 - Windy Point to Seattle 226 miles

No big hurry to get moving for my last day on the trip-

The route home was Naches, over the ridge to Wenas Valley, Yakima Canyon Road to Ellensburg, Old Blewett Pass Road and then over Stevens Pass. Only Pic is looking back at Naches-

My portion of the trip this year was 4990 miles in 23 days. Somehow it seems fitting to post the last day report on the first day of the new year. I hope things will be better this year for everyone.

Thanks for coming along for the ride.

Good point Flatty. I now have a nerve issue with my feet and can't walk on anything that is not smooth/flat without foot protection. The flip flops were a fail in this application.

Sorry to hear that Rick, You prolly don't remember but I have "foot drop" in my right foot due to nerve damage and I often catch my foot on uneven surfaces. You'll adapt in time.

Remember my friend although we can't avoid aging we can defy getting old. Never under estimate the power of an unreasonably defiant attitude!
