Out Into The Light

Been along time since the old girl saw daylight, popped some fresh fuel in and it started and ticked over like a good'un but those 12s injectors make a major difference.

Do you only have Ohlin on the rear?

I had a set of Ohlin's made for my BCR. I like them so far but comparing them to the old original shocks anything would probably have been better. The only thing I don't like about the S bike so far seems to be what I call Shaft Jacking. It seems like when you go on and off the throttle the bike wants to raise and lower a lot, more so than my other Telelever bikes. Is this something the shocks can tune out or is it just more noticeable on the S bikes?

Should have spotted the obvious right at the start, as the Ohlins is longer than the stocker and when I fitted slowed the steering and having already fitted Dymags wasn’t happy, the only solution(at the time) was to Jack the rear up even more and would have made it more difficult to get on...

While having a tidy up today, found the mod list from years back, think it would be quicker to list the stock parts.

Where on earth did you find PFM brakes, or is it a custom setup? I can’t even find floating rotors anywhere.

I’ll try and cut a very long story down.... when I bought the bike it came with AP6 pots on custom discs, but because they were solid non floating the AP’s used to just eat the discs, and I finally i’d had enough and the PFM kit turned up and they have really good.

Must be 15/16 years ago....

Only place I can suggest for sourcing kit is German eBay.

Just checked it’s possible to still buy a kit....but jeez cheap it ain’t.

Motorworks (UK) were selling the PFM kit quite recently. Just had a look and no longer listed. Probably due to them being slow moving stock. I almost bought one but I was concerned that it could be too much braking. If that’s possible
I can’t find an email address for them, only a Fax number!!!!! This day and age!
There is an enquiry form of sort, you need to scroll down to the bottom.
https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Help/PartsQuoteEnquiry.php
Happy to phone them on your behalf next week if the linky no worky.

I can’t imagine too much braking. Had a Beringer 4 pot/320mm disc setup on my CR250R supermoto years ago, and an entire Fireblade/954RR front end on my 1996 VFR. I put more stock in suspension and brakes than horsepower.

Appreciate the link, but I’m looking at local machinist assistance now. The short term goal is to make up a set of floating rotors to fit the factory wheels and calipers. My S has been de-ABS’ed already, I’m likely going to wind up with a complete aftermarket brake setup but this bike is a lifer, and I don’t care about anything other than my riding preferences :-)

Aggggh, I’d forgotten about those lovely triple clamps. Now I have to live every day as a jealous guy.
I didn’t press the button when the original set were made (been a reader here a looong time) but did express an interest for a subsequent set that sadly didn’t get made.
Another case of ‘if you don’t get whilst you can be prepared to miss out’.
I’m hoping eBay will eventually shine through.

No didn’t buy one and for what ever reason looking at the other thread a steering damper, but did spend a great deal of time thinking about a SJ big bore kit
