Does the Pyramid rear hugger fit the 180 tire?
I should have asked before buying one from a UK dealer....but does the Pyramid hugger fit if I have the 180 rear tire?
When I search I just find old posts....some on poor fitment etc. Hard to tell since my bikes are packed tight in the garage, can't get to the rear of the bike to check. Thanks, Doug

Sort of, sitting still in the garage it fits fine with clearance but when zipping around it makes contact as it shakes enough to touch the right side edge of the tire. Sold it & put a neoprene cover on the shock instead. I don't know if it was moving enough to hit on a 170 tire but my friends said it was shaking pretty hard, this was blasting around on mountain roads though.

Thanks sgoodwin, that's what I was afraid of. Not sure what to do with it.
Did it rub real bad? I might be able to fix the jiggle with some extra CF cloth and epoxy strategically placed.

Just mounted it and it's off center to the right a bit. I read that in the forum, but thought it had been corrected based on some of the posts. Guess not.

It wasn't real bad, just a small area on the mount that protrudes by the edge of the tire. Mostly I didn't like it be-bopping around & like the open look better.

Thanks sgoodwin. Turns out it's pretty much centered, but the trailing edge of the fender wasn't cut properly which made it look off center. I'm now trimming it with the dremel and sanding.
I should have asked for buying it.

Mine fits just fine on the supplied mounts. I did add at least 2 layers of Uni carbon (~9 oz) and one light 0-90 (~5 oz) on top of the Uni to make all the Uni fibers share the load together. Epoxy not polyester also... Made it still and still light and only about a mm thicker only under the mountings and up the side, that was all that was necessary.
Without the reinforcement .. i think the original was junk.. far too flexible... someone had their tongue firmly in cheek when they sold it too me "new"... it was unusable as far as I could tell. But yes, fits the wider rear wheel and tire just fine.

The one I received was definitely not very flexible. Appears to be CF layered over fiberglass for rigidity.

My one is just the fiberglass model, and yes, it flexes and rubs the tire, but it has lasted over 50,000 miles so far and I can't see it when I am riding, so all good. Pre warms the tire edge for right hand turns.

Thanks bikerfish. Did you leave the brake caliper flat washers off? I think you did, but it's hard to tell from the one pic.

i used their spacer/mounting piece, and the dished washer. i stuck a rubber washer between the Hugger and bolt/dished washer to avoid nicking the CF.

I see that the last post on this thread was in 2016, so I'll assume I'm not hijacking it for a related issue.
I had been using an Ilmberger hugger for a couple of years. Recently, I replaced the factory shocks with a set of Hyper-pros. Now my hugger is knocking up against the shock when going over road bumps. I never had a problem until I switched out the shock. Has anyone else experienced this? Would like to hear from anyone who's running an aftermarket shock like Ohlins, Wilbers, or Hyper-pro, as well as a rear tire hugger. Is there a hugger solution that works with an apparent larger diameter shock spring? Maybe Puig? Thanks!

I am running the Puig Carbon Fiber unit on my BCR with no interference issues. No listing for an R1100S in the Puig range so i bought one for a GS instead, taking a chance it would work. It works nicely and forms to the 180 tire without a problem. I liked the sturdy construction of it and had to paint the mount to more match the color of the rear end and swingarm. I have Wilbers installed front and rear- love them!
