I haven't checked in here for a few weeks only to find this. What an adventure, to say the least. RBMann, glad you came away from it in reasonably good shape. One thing struck me from the pics. Here in Colorado helmets are not required. They think lane splitting is more dangerous than not wearing a helmet. Misguided is an understatement. Anyway, by the looks of the helmet and your pic with just a bit of dirt and a small cut showing on your face reinforces the need for wearing a helmet at all times. I think most of us know this.

Ralf, how are you. Haven't done much riding lately, cold and snow, but Colorado riding is certainly different than California. Drivers here have a piss-poor awareness of bikes and at times it seems the cars are just out to get the motorcyclists. Waiting for spring time.

Ralf, how are you.

I have had better days, Tony.

I am about 4 weeks out from a nearly deadly heart attack. I got lucky.
The road to recovery is going to be a long one but I am on it.

Glad to hear that you are doing OK.

Maybe eventually, I'll drop by and say hi. ;)

Ralf, you too? WTF??!!!!!!

You guys have to stop these near-death stunts this instant!!!!

Seriously, take the car this year, but it would be nice to see you both at TOR 2025.

Wasn't exactly my plan...

Rick, what a surprise - I guess after all those years and miles traveled, “something” will eventually happen. Overall still a lucky outcome.

As to your decision, I gave up my bike about 6 months ago simply because I wasn’t riding it. The California group is no more due to Jeff’s passing, and I find it boring to ride the street alone. This drove my decision - it was never about fear (men can be dumb that way!).

All the best and thanks for your fascinating road trip stories!

Wow, Ralf, what's the solution for the issue?
I'm 10 years out from a quadruple as a result of being 2 days out from fatal, they said. It all worked out pretty good. An active lifestyle is/was supposed to preclude stuff like this.
Crisp, clean, mountain air here at 7300ft.

Hi, John, how are you?

Like you said, Tony... an active, healthy lifestyle.

Been working on that for a while... even more so now.

Where in CO are you at? Looks nippy.

When are you allowed back on the bicycle Ralf? Thought I saw somewhere that you have been mountain biking some.

Colorado Springs, Black Forest area.

Yup, it's been nippy.

No, I have not been biking, Bill. They don't want me to crash or croak somewhere in the sticks... although I'd really favor that.

I am still a month or more away from that, it all depends on Cardiac Rehab.

Hi, John, how are you?

I’m good Tony. Riding the bicycle about 100 miles a week and playing a lot of tennis. Plus skiing of course.

Enjoy Colorado - I miss it!

I should get back on my bicycle. I think that's on a different list.

I'd sure like to do some skiing but two things keep me from it:
The traffic jams going to the ski areas are horrendous around here.
The ski lift ticket prices are out of control.

Good to hear from a few of what's left of the group.

Yes, traffic on the 70 is definitely a problem now. As to the tickets, we had 2 trips to vail this year using the Epic pass which only costs $700 for 10 days / $900 for full pass. A much better deal than day pass. Also, flying into Eagle avoids traffic (but doesn’t help you unfortunately). In better news, bike riding is free! 🙂

after you paid for the bike... and then there still are tires, chains, etc... at least in my case. I was doing about 75 to 100 hard miles a week and that takes it's toll on the bike.

Definitely cheaper than skiing, though :D

I haven't signed in to the board in over a year, out of the loop is an understatement. Rick, glad you are on the mend. So many familiar 'faces' here. SmileWavy

About time you checked in! Nice to see your HP2 is racking up the miles over on IG

It sat for quite some time, sadly. It needed a litany of maintenance items to get it roadworthy. That was the easy part though, since post Covid, I need maintenance too. LOL. But now that I'm finally in shape enough to ride it, again, I'm committed to keeping its wheels turning. But now it seems, the older I get, the faster I was.
