Laser Race System - Running rich?

Greetings,

I have about 1500 miles on the bike now..with the Laser Race System + Chip installed. (total 4500 miles). When I first put the system in, the bike ran perfect! No pops, easy starting, and the exhaust tips were not blacked out. It even felt like it might have been running lean..so I checked the plugs, and they looked ok.
Now..the bike feels like its running rich. I have pops on downshifts, and even upshifts. The exhaust tips are blacked out, and the bike has a harder time starting. I think I'm running rich.

Any ideas?

-arbi

arbi,
did you do anything to the intake side of the system,(k&n, powerfilter, induct, etc). I run the same 2-1-2 oval system as you . jeff

Nope. Nothing on the intake side.
The reasons it doesnt make sense..is that when I installed the system, it didnt seem to run rich, but now it does.
I was thinking of resetting the capcode..and see if it runs leaner.

...I"ll be doing some mods to the intake...but I havent had a chance to do them yet.

Have you disconnected your battery lately? If not try resetting the capcode, it cann't hurt. You might try synchronizing the throttle bodies. That could give you a feel that you're running rich. Your bike might be breaking in and causing your problems.
I run the powerfilter with the SBduct system and my bike ran lean. I put in a K-fuel regulator to richen things up. It now runs better,(Yes I know,to the powers that be, that it is a band-air for my present map) and feels to have more power.
Good luck,
Jeff

Greetings,

Jeff:
If it works and you are happy with the "seat of the pants dyno" do it and don' t worry. Look at the plugs....are they happy???

Do you have the right chip in? The dual-spark is very different...even has a different ECU?

i an interested in this thread. i have observed just about everything you have, but this bike runs perfectly. gets a bit tempermental starting sometimes, but all three of my S's have done that to me in various states of tune. consider the induct and/or k&n but want to do a pre-dyno and go from there. doing a track day on nov. 1st. hope to have new rubber and the dyno done prior. will post the results and we can go from there. hows that sound?

Greetings,

There is no point for discussion, the Tecs are the best for your situation. PERIOD.

I for got that you did not have a pit crew and tires for all reasons and such!

The Corsas are a great track tire....but the Tecs offer much better real world (CITY) stickyness in all conditions and are great on the track too.

The corsas are a better for track days.

Safety is your best friend!

Cheers,

Robert
