![]() On a 2-up sport ride this weekend the BCP got 45 mpg. This with 36K on the clock. This is better than when new. ![]() Last edited by ejfbmw; 09-27-2004 at 06:16 AM.. |

Think you will find people at high altitudes get better mileage.

Now at 76k+ on the odometer. Most of that by the previous owner. I've done the Seafoam treatment as well as built my own manometer and balanced the throttle bodies, gapped the valves cold, installed new plugs. Worst part is I'm only driving 4 miles to work, and 4 miles home, so the poor thing never gets warmed up properly. I take it out on weekends and try to thrash the carbon out, but I think it's a losing battle right now. Get about 34-36 mpg in this mode, but will do some longer distance stuff to see if it will burn better.
And I think I've been a little too squidly with the throttle from stop light to stop light. ![]()

Whoo-Hoo, 60 percent of the votes and climbing, keep it going for the 42-46 range!
![]() ![]() In utah I get 44 or 45 no matter what. In Colorado going up and down the passes I get 55. In Neebrara going across the plains I get 37 or 38. I figure its an engine effeciency thing. Going up hill the engine is at low rpm, high throttle, good BSFC and going down you coasting. Blasting down the freeway at 80, lots of aerodrag, but also, mid rpm, low throttle bad BSFC. |

I used to get 50-55 in North Carolina. In D.C., I'm lucky to see 45 and it's closer to 40 most of the time. I thought it might be different blend of gas but the Harley is getting the same mileage as before. Maybe just different riding style, either holed up in traffic or hole shots to the next exit ramp.

There will be a discrepancy with the British figures as Imperial gallons are 4.55 litres.
Regularly see 42, been as good as 55, bad as 30. Neil

I get 38-42 MPG on my 2004 twin spark. Modifications include Vanderlinde exhaust, SJB K&N Air Filter, modified snokel to flow more air, and a Techlusion to compnesate. Most of the time my rides are a minimum of 45 miles through twisty SW Wisconsin. I have never had it on a long straight highway for any length of time.
Turning off the Techlusion raises the fuel milege to 42-45 MPG. With the Techlusion turned off performance suffers. It's nice to twist the throttle and feel the difference when the Techlusion is turned on. Milege be damned! Jeff "S" Moore |

Full Laser street & chip, K&N filter, 2001 with 26K miles on it. low mpg around 38, hi above 50. ability to maintain steady speeds seem to make the biggest difference, while short jaunts get the worst. keeping it down near the legal also helps.

Low 40's with a heavy right hand around the hills of Santa Cruz, CA. Low 50's cruzing up Hwy 1 to SF and on longer trips when the speed stays below 80.
Mostly like it come from the factory..

I regularly get 30-32 around town (it's all stop and go, no highways through town around here, plus most of my trips are in full rich warmup mode as I rarely am on the bike for more than 10 minutes at a go around town), 38-42 when romping on it in the high speed twisties, and 46-52 when tip toeing along in touring mode.

Low 40's,high 30's if on the boil, little urban use, most rides 10 to 60 miles on weekends, have other bikes for commuting. I was a little suprised how low mpg was (Staintunes, intake, & Aussie chip) but as long as it is consistant won't be concerned.

My peak is 41+, my low around 35. My average is 38-39. The bike is stock with 4700 miles. I have been tracking mileage since I took it home. My inital mileage was good, then dropped right around the 600 mile service. Its been going back up again. I have been riding more smoothly and not trying to pin the tach often. I am trully amazed that you can get 50+mpg out of the beast.

I can't break 35mpg except out on long runs and even then I'm never getting above 40. 50+ is truly amazing considering how hard those 2 cylinders are working. Mileage is around 8400 and I have noticed alot smoother ride has developed over the last 3K miles...and I'm lovin' that!
