Pulled over..... again

Well, as most of you know... I'm on a winning streak with the whole getting pulled over at double the speed limit plus situations. Happened to me again while taking a little stroll out with another member of the board szentthomas.

I'd happily made my way through a dozen or so speed traps during the day. The sun was setting and I was burglarizing the last set of curves on the way home. While going 105 - 110 through some twisties all leaned over and going over the top of the hill.... radar starts beeping rapidly... busted. Had enough time to grab a bunch of break which served me well. He got me going 72 in a 55.... not too hooliganish if I say so myself.

Punchline is I received a "waste of finite resources" ticket. $30... doesn't go against my record. Not bad. And Sean documented the incident with his digicamera. I'm sure he'll post soon.

Shannon, what's a "waste of finite resources" ticket? At least lady luck is on your side!
We need more understanding LEO's here in Michigan!

Dude, you REALLY should consider playing the lottery...

The idea is that if they can't get you for speeding... they get you for wasting gas. In this case, it was intended as a slap on the wrist since I'm obviously an upstanding citizen.

My prediction for Shannon:

A rapid series of "back to back" tickets when his luck runs out.

Why? Because I've been there.

Speculatin'...

Haven't really found out if yet...it's a 45 minute wait on the phone to talk to a human clerk...

This said, it's $110 for 9 over, another $40 something for Trafik Skool to pay, if I get the choise now that I contested it via Written Declaration.

All speeding under 85 should be an eco-ticket.
My first when living in Montana was a $30 resources ticket for doing 75...

Califa sucks.

You're high, my friend. You wouldn't have had the option of traffic school back east, and you're much more likely to get pulled over. Montana, yeah, but who wants to live there? I would have just paid the ticket, and the traffic school price. No points on the liscence.

Shannon,

Out here in Brooklyn, luckily for us, cops are busy fighting crime (ahem) that is why they spend less time doing speed traps.

However, once in a while we do see them with the occasional cancer causing radar probe hanging out the rear window. They now even have laser guns, I seen them myself.

Two things about them though, I pretty much know all the spots where they like to hang, and usually they do it at the beginning of the month or the end. It must have something to do with the full moon because they swear up and down that there are no quotas and since they don't lie it must be true.

I know out there in Arizona you guys have a lot of room lots of roads and such but there should be some pattern to their activities? I once saw this thing where one cop was maning the laser gun while the other (his partner) would jump out of a ditch with a red flag and get the victim to stop.

Also while I am on the subject why do they go after bikes on lonely roads while people on the highway in all types of rollover prone vehicles with trailers (sometimes full of horses) are free to go at Kamikaze speed? I was never so skeered as when I rode down on the slab from Flagstaff to Phoenix! Jesus they was bonkers out there? Damn the torpedoes and we even passed two rigs that ran out of macadam and did some off roading right there in the median!

Don't try to outrun the cops unless you really are up to no good. If they catch you it will be a very expensive endeavor.

Ride on!

Saw a double speed trap once on I-55 in Illinois, going north just before the Illinois river. Right there the land goes from flat to a series of rolling hills with deep gullies between. They (State Troopers) set up a single car on the right shoulder with an old-style always-on radar gun. Every cage coming over the first hill spotted the thing on their radar detector and slowed to the 55 MPH limit. Then as soon as they got over the next hill back up to 75 MPH. Then over the third hill and they find a cop with an instant-on gun and two extra patrol cars and officers flagging offenders over. I was in a VW bug doing the limit and just horse-laughed myself sick driving by all the folks who had blown my doors off on their way to the VERY IMPORTANT LIVES.

Moral of the story, just because you've spotted one speed trap don't mean you've spotted them all.

And I think John Law picks on bikes based on the mindset that if you kill or maim youself on that demon seed motorbike they (the government) potentially lose a taxpayer. If you think of us as nothing more than a cash crop then you start to see their motives in keeping the peace, everyone marching in neat little lines, no one trying to operate outside THEIR definition of The Box.

My 2 cents worth, which with inflation figured in, ain't nothin' anymore!
