torque arm installation
Am in need of directions/tips. My factory service manual disk does not cover it. Must I use a lift as I only have a side stand? Should I replace the bushings (very low miles on the bike)? Thanks.

don't sweat it just a few bolts
a small jack will suffice if you do not have a center stand

Hmmm, a touchy bit of protocol? Or imitation being the sincerest form of flattery?

It will be a bit of a challenge without a centerstand or pit stand...but it can be done. Bushings "should" be fine - there should be one installed in the torque arm already? If not (aftermarket may not have the bush?) you probably want to buy the bushing and install it in the torque arm ahead of time.
To do it right, "neutralize" the bushings by leaving the bolts installed but not tightened. Take the bike off the stand and have a friend of nearly equal lard sit on the bike - torque the bolts with the bike thus loaded. best, Dave |
