online source for small indicators...

some ahve asked about the rear indicators used on mine and other's bikes. these things rock at $15 for a pair. they are bright and if installed properly will clear the bmw system bags...

repoe3: those look sweet. What kind of bulb do they use? LEDs?

repoe3 04-16-2004 08:26 AM

regular filament bulb. they are as bright if not brighter than the bulbous stock units on the rear.

I hope they are better than the Locjhart Phillips China junkers...I bought a set aand the practicaly crumbled on installation. The bulb socket was so tinny that they warped...real crap.

repoe3 04-16-2004 08:49 AM

yes they are much better than those. firbolter has a set and i have two, one on the S (removed since reinstalling the LED's in the brake light housing) and one on the R6.

Cyclegear is the same store I bought them at in Tucson.....Going to Tokyo end of May, what kind of good stuff should I pick up from there? They have all kinds of cool stuff we don't!

How do they istall?

repoe3 04-16-2004 10:00 AM

guess you could install them on the stock mounts, but i actually cut off the stock mounts and fab'd tabs on my plate mount for the them, so they were much lower and more inboard, next to the top bolts holding the plate on the bike. you will have to run wires through a heat resistant sheathing between the exhasut pipes if you relocate them, but if you install on the stock mounts, it would be plug-n-play.

Here you go, Nitro - you crazy lad. :D
.
They're not unlike most lights to install - IOW's, easy as pie.
I did hog out the hole in the stock bracket, however, to receive the threaded light housing shaft.
Ran the stock affixing screw through the cleat I made and into the bracket.
No mods I made will prevent using the stock light.

I reckon the Kellerman micro 1000 are by far the prettiest, and very bright for their size.they run a 5w halogen globe.I had to put a couple of big resistors inline to get the flash-rate right. The four 10w ceramic resistors are actually bigger than the blinkers.
