Shifting Problem

Occationally, and usually while accelerating somewhat quickly, my shifter does not return down after an upshift. This makes it impossible to grab the next gear, and sometimes I have to go down and up again to upshift. I tried re-lubing the shift linkage, adjusting the lever a bit and even have been VERY careful as to where I keep my boots to avoid interfering with the shifter, but it still does it. Pointed it out to the daeler and he said all is well. Just an occational misshift. The bike has just over 1200 mi on it ...maybe needs a few thou more miles...but it is a bit disconcerting when you are trying to ride at a good clip. Any suggestions?

Preload the shifter just before you change gears.

not sur ethe preloading the shifter will help in this case. usually, preloading just helps in shifting. the issue of the lever not return sounds like road debris in the works. might want to take some compressed air to blow stuff out and have a look-see...sometimes even the smallest of stuff can creat operation gremlins with the shifter (although i have not experienced it-others have)
