New K1200RS
In the German magazine Motorrad there is an interview with BMW Motorcycle chief Diess. He makes some comments about the new K1200RS.
First it will have a power to weight ratio which is 50% better then the R1100S (so 100hp/240kg means 160?(guess)/256 kg) The new engine will have a capacity of 1170 cc's He says the new front suspension has a very precise feeling when steering, the best yet. They are also working on electronically controled suspension. It has a lower CoG, long wheelbase and special geometry (which is also favoured by Tony Foale BTW);apparantly the CoG is low enough it is very hard to wheely, no price yet and it will be shown at the INTERMOT Hugo |

Hi Hugo
I don't have the mag yet;did he say something about the new R 1200S or RS?!That would have been interesting since fours don't interest me at all.At least guys who are into high hp fours have an real world sporty alternative to the cartoon bikes from the big four that nobody anyways can ride close to the bikes performance ability.Shaftdrive,ABS,bags and probably a bearable riding position for more than 2 hours or 150 miles should give the Hayabusa and XX1100 crowd something to look forward to...Hope the new S will make US happy ,too...;-) 120hp,500lbs,24liter tank and I'll be more than happy for the next ten years..;-) Chris |

Hi Chris,
Nope nothing about the S;this was strictly about the new K...interesting is that they say the engine is the smallest in width of all transversal fours....Interesting thing is does the new S get the new front suspension? Hugo |
