Yeah, I like to ride the North Cascade Loop each way every year. Its such a great ride

Another alternative is if you ride either the north or south part of the Cascade Loop and end up at the eastern side head up Hwy97 to Osoyoos on Wash/BC border then head west on
Hwy 3 thru southern B.C.

An excellent detailed book on B.C. and Wash. state roads.www.destinationhighways.com/default.htm

It has a link for the Wash. guide also

A bit of caution, it seems Wash. state troopers are as radar happy as RCMP highway patrol, but i usually keep my speed within comfort range (heh heh) and enjoy the scenery

Cheers

For those of us trapped far, far away, and addicted to checking map routes could you please post a synopsis of the various Loop routes, or a scan of a map?

And thanks for letting us take a vicarious scoot along with you. The photos are fantastic and really bring back memories!

For me I think of the Cascade Loop as starting in Everett, WA on I-5.

N on I-5 to Burlington
E on Hwy. 20 to Winthrop/Twisp
SE on Hwy. 153 to Pateros
S on Hwy. 97 to Wenatchee
W on Hwy. 2 back to Everett.

You can make some changes or small additions to the route.

E off I-5 at Arlington to Darrington then N to Rockport on Hwy. 20.(pic 1)

There is a back road on the W side of the river from Twisp to Carlton on Hwy 153.

On Hwy 97 I went to Chelan Falls. Crossed the Columbia R. and made the first left to go N then E up McNeil Canyon(pic 4). This brings you out on what I call the plateau. You will think you are in Kansas, wide open flat farm country(pic 5-7). From the top of McNeil Canyon just go W and S as the paved roads allow till you get to Waterville(pic 9) then W on Hwy 2.

In Leavenworth on Hwy. 2, take the road to Plain then back out to Hwy. 2 at Coles Corner.

I personally prefer North Cascade Hwy. westbound but run the Loop clockwise or counter clockwise depending on the time of day I leave or the weather. The least traffic and rain is the goal.

Enjoy, RB.

Nice, RB. My girlfriend knows that area. She used to live in Wenatchee. I may be living in WA, soon.
.
Steve, do a search on "Laminar Lip"...

Canon A70.

Don, that photo was McNeil Canyon. There is another nice road over Badger Mt. from Waterville to East Wenatchee.
