BMW to make R1 Beater
Apparently BM will produce a full on sports bike to coincide with their 2006 entry into Moto GP. It'll be a three cyclinder 1000cc bike to take on the best sports machinary from the Japs, and not just another lardy sports tourer like the K1200.
It must be true, it's in todays MCN.

Wrong. There IS a super-sized variation of the new K12S in the works for special purpose use that may include racing, but that part is less known at this time. Its being considered and early units are being toyed with at BMW R and D. The "track/endurance" version of the new narrow crank four will be tuned to better employ the F1 designs that have been incorporated into the soon coming stock 167HP unit.
On the super sport unit expect possibly staggared injectors, one being umbrella mounted, a half point more in compression, and a lot less weight. |
