Lightbulb Chicagoland Riders

I am new to the board and looking for Chicagoland area riders.
It would be nice to ride with a pack of S owners. Maybe a day trip to Lake Geneva, WI.

Moybin, Thanks! perhaps we can ride sometimes.

hdd, I think we're neighbors bud. You can find me at McCarty's Mill SE corner of Randall Rd and Indian Trail. Do you drive a red 04 and wear a matching red helmet? I saw a guy last week coming onto RT31 from I88. And no that wasn't me on RT56.

Abe and I use to ride F650GS and he works across the street from where I work. He was the one who originally told me about this board but I didn't register then until Moybin told me again this time. I believe that there are a lot of S riders in Chicagoland. When I got my bike at Chicago BMW, there were 3 other Grey/Yellow like mine being prepared. It would be nice to meet up with everyone.

Another Westsider, here. I ride a 02 Silver SBX under a Rat Fink Helmet. I hang around with a crowd of vintage folks and we're heading out to Savannah, IL. which is like going past Galena. If any of you want to come out for a day I can give you more info. The first wave is leaving Friday, so this may be too late. The roads are good for Illinois, but not mind bending.

Rode to the Rally in Spokane, next year its in Ohio so lets see if we can get a group to go. I am also rabid about track days and performance upgrades for the R1100S

I'm in Berwyn, btw.

Bob

Welcome Far North side here about two miles noth of Chicago BMW..... I too was in the Galena area this weekend....There are some excellent roads... for Illinois..... in the Mt. Carol/Savannah area. rom the Western suburbs, take I72 west and you'll run into some great high speed sweepers with some curvies thrown in here and there. As most on this board know, the S really shines on these not-so-smooth backroad

Bigwhup, are you guys taking vintage bikes? Be sure to stop at the Iron Horse Social Club in Savanna. Don't be intimidated by the group of Harley's out front.

just north of Galena

Hey Bigwhup & Rootboy,

You might want to get a Southwest Wisconsin map, if you don't have one. Almost anything north of Galena gets good and twisty fast (check out W). I just paid a reproduction house to scan my maps so I can cut them up and "highlight" them in Photoshop for trips to SW wisco.

I usually start my day in Monroe WI ( from Chicago) , (there is an awesome fresh fruit market there in the middle of town) then I head west, and north, then east, south, west, north......you get the picture.

Anyway, a good way to do it is leave chicago on a friday late afternoon, get a cheap motel in Monroe ( many on the main drag ) than start early morning, ride through the day, stay in a place like Mineral Point, then Sunday head back to chicago on back roads.

Let me know if anyone would be interested in a weekend trip.

Later,

Robert Mariani

I'm in.
It would be a lot of fun if we were a large group.
Local forecast is sunny with temps in the lower 70s.

Abe, I left you an email.

Route 12 to Lake Geneva? How do you boys get there?

All I ever did was drink at the "Top Deck" on the lake long ago. You wouldn't go up there and drink beer would you?

Drinking and driving is not my cup of tea.

The plan is fast and straight going there then nice and slow coming back.
Going there would be: 88W to 39N to 90N to 43E
Then coming back: 12S all the way back

We're open to anything. Are you coming ckcarr?

Don't think so since I'm in Utah now.

But Lake Geneva was (for better or worse) one of my growing up haunts.

I'm a little south of Chicago, but would like to head up for some riding some time. Where are you starting from? I may have a couple of jobs to finish up, and really need to work on the VW, but might blow all of that off to get in some good riding before the weather goes to crap.....

Jeremy, PM me and we'll get you the details over the phone.

Let's meet up at 10am over at Panera Bread on Orchard Rd, just a stones throw south of I88.

I can't get a hold of Abe. Hopefully we can get more to come.

Jeremy, If you know how to get to I88, take that west all the way to Aurora. Take Orchard Rd exit South, that's the 2nd exit after the Aurora toll plaza.
Cruise down on Orchard Rd and you'll see a Home Depot on the right hand side. Panera Bread is next to Chilis.

I hope you guys wear helmets, I do. Because bugs really don't taste like chicken.

Johnty and rm

We will not only be drinking at the Iron Horse, but we are in good with the owners (ever see his crazy CB 750 Chopper?) and he si setting us up in a hotel outside of town. Yes, we are riding vintage up there to make the hHarley Boys and girls feel bad. Laverda,s Ducatis, Guzzi and all forms of Japanese bikes, totalling about 40 will be there for the weekend.

We have a sister chpter in Milwaukee so we are familiar with Galena, the Kettle Moraines and BOng Wilderness, where we scoot around on old Honda and Bultaco dirtbikes.

Get out there and ride, all.

Bob

Sounds cool Bigwhup. We have a group going to Farley, Iowa (!) for the AMA flat track race on Sat. eve. Then Sunday down to Anamosa to the museum. Maybe we'll pass, we will probably end up going back through Savanna. Everybody have fun and BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!
