increased smoke after removing cat?

So I just installed a 2BR Cat Eliminator and I love the results (nice sound and better throttle response) but I noticed that when I first crank it up there is a bit of visible smoke (never noticed before today). Normal? Problem?

It's a boxer. They're nice and loose when cold and like to left oil get by the rings. Completely normal in my experience.

Thats all I wanted to hear I knew they burned a lil, just wasnt sure if the smoke was normal (as I'm sure the cat was soaking it all up and making the exhaust nice and clear and environmentally friendly ). I did about 300 miles today and I gotta say I love the cat eliminator!

I don't know. I'm not breaking any laws either way though (unless there is a law against having fun!)

I've been thinking about the 2BR Cat eliminator as well. Sounds like you're happy with the results.

Any problems with the fit?
Did you keep the centerstand?

It went on much easier than the stock unit came off I think it took me about 25 minutes start to finish to get the old one off and the new one on. I have the 'light' package so no center stand. Another question for anyone else using a cat eliminator - Does your bike backfire much or at all? Mine seems to pop every now and then when engine braking into turns and such.

My '99 is stock sans cannister. It does the same. A soft little pop that I wouldn't even call a backfire. Not as loud as a firecracker or anything like that. Maybe this will help establish a point for a population trend.

My 99 makes a little smoke at first but once it is warm, less than 30 seconds later it is ok. My 2004GS every once in a while (every, say, 8 starts) it releases a sgnificant cloud of bluish smoke enough to make people stop in their tracks and put a smile on their face and a frown on mine. None of my other boxers did that! Hmmmmm.

Laser cat elim, K&N, no cannister, mine smokes a little on startup and backfires a little more when closing the throttle (but it sounds cool!).

Richening it up a little will cure the popping.
As far as the Two Brother's system, be warned their customer service is really "customer NO service"....
If it's not 100% right, out of the box, you're screwed.

Richening the mix -- is setting the TPS (the "zero=zero" procedure) the best way to do this? The only way?

I hate to take this thread even more off topic, but thats the way its headed. For those of you running chips, do you notice any change in fuel milage? Better of worse?

I have an aftermarket chip, TBR pipe, InDuct, K&N, etc. and I get 35-40 mpg riding hard and 45-47 mpg taking it easy.

mods, chips, etal usually result in better fuel range, but better air/fuel mix. usually get 150 miles before the light comes on and routinely get 45-50 MPG commuting.

Mmmm... I keep putting this off, for after SS brake lines, enhanced lighting, tire changing equipment, and more tires are purchased...

on this bike, i think it should be a first if you are going to do anything. but SS lines are nice and i love mine, love the HID light as well, tire changing equipment was a gift and so on...

if this was, say and R6, all i would do (and have done) is SS lines and frame sliders. it can still go faster than i can ride it.

Thats what I was thinking too (smokes when cold, and the popping sounds cool)

I'll add a chip when the smoke has cleared from the bike and all the s@#$t I have already bought (Wife has put me on restriction for now hehe)
