Some douchebag slashed my seat

and the gaffer tape just isn't cutting it. Any ideas on easy, long lasting fixes? I'm not ready for the reshaping and recovering just yet. It's about a 6 inch slash under the right butt cheek.
Thanks
Why why why do they do this?

Too bad on your seat cover.
Google on "vinyl repair", etc.

F'er should have his head broke. Senseless bulls"it to damage someones property. Maybe an excuse for a custom seat? I'm trying to find a pan to fit an '04 so I don't have to sacrafice my new seat for a custom made one. Good luck w/ the repair

Keep an eye on eBay. I don't think 2 weeks go by that I don't see at least one seat from the '99-01 range. Check the IBMWR marketplace on a regular basis, too.

I've always just taken mine to an automotive upholstery shop. They do a really good job and it's always been cheap with a wide selection.

I've made a few vinyl repairs in my days, some just for temp fix, others were almost invisible 'n lasted for yrs.
.
You could fetch some "matching" material at an upholstery shop or a fabric store, Then use either a frontal or a 'behindal' approach using contact cement. Un-staple the cover in the area of the injury for the behindal approach...or un-staple/remove the entire cover (probably what I'd do). Key to contact cement is to clean the area well (MEK, etc.), apply first coat to both surfaces, let that dry slightly, then add another thin coat prior to joining. Apply good pressure from both sides, let the repair dry *thoroughly* for a couple of days, minimally, prior to stressing it.
.
You could also darn the tear, if you choose, prior to either approach.
.
Good luck.

What I meant by taking it to an upholstery shop was to just get the whole seat recovered. It will look customized instead of repaired.

stoooooooopid question here.

do you think if i were to cut foam and stuff for my own seat that they would be able to re-upholster it thus making a custom made (self made) seat???

i just never thought of that as a possibility. i have plenty of access to foam pads at the hospital.... i also noticed that both michaels, joann fabrics carry foam for this and other pillow/seat projects with different ratings/grades....

also, does anyone know what type of glue to use to glue foam together?? i understand that you cut it with a hot knife.. i'm going to google this on the internet! thanks guys!

An electric carving knife does a superior job on foam, particularly open cell foam that is quite soft.

I would look for a spray contact glue. Several are available on the market. A good craft store will have such in cans. Ask the ladies at Joann Fabrics or Michaels.

You might also check with anyone that does car upholstry, they spray glue vinyl on car roofs and for the interior liners.

Thanks for the ideas all. I'll probably just do a quick patch on top and recover later.

When I had the seat re-done for the (rigid) HD, I gave the shop a piece of gel-pad I purchased from a place that makes this for bike seats. They make finished pads to go over your seat, or raw gel you can trim to go into a new, custom seat. I'll look for the name and address. Really works well, and gives the Rigid a little more "cushion-ing". Left coast I think. I'll look around for the paperwork
