Read your Ohlies manual for "set-up". You'll need to set your preload for optimum results. First "bike sag" then "rider sag".
i.e., the amount your springs compress under the bikes weight, and how much loaded with rider and/or rider and load. |
oh, I get it,you were joking...how'd I do?...

Installation Update.
Well....I got the Ohlins front and back on the bike...just finished the Laser cat elim install tonight, so rode the bike around the block. It sits noticably taller in the rear. The front feels lower but kind of hard to tell that emperically although the measurement numbers say it should be 10mm less....the rear is taller because now I'm on the balls of my feet and not flat footed anymore. I'll ride it tomorrow and see how it turns. Still waiting for a riding buddy to come over and help me with the loaded sag, but the static sag is right. I have the damping set per Ohlins initial setup instructions. I'll let you guys know how it feels once I ride it some. Just wanted to update you all especially those who helped me so much. |
Great Bob!
It's gonna take some time to sort it all out now that you've done both mods at once...you'll be paying attention to both the way it runs AND the way it rides...but it'll be sweet on both accounts. Whole new animal! Do a search on Ohlins set-up. bradzdotcom had a good starting set-up for the shocks.... |

Thanks Bob for the words about the ball in the clicker. I cut a hole in a ziplock bag and let it catch that bugger when it tried to pop and run to a hiding place on the shop floor. BTW the Ohlins instal manual does say that you reuse the rubber bushings so if you're annal about old and new going together get them ordered while you're sitting there. Personally I'd like to see them com with the shock. Ohlins makes an open wrench to hold the top stem (threaded). Do I need to go buy a 15mm openend ratchet thing-e to get the 43 nm? Can't get there with a deepwell:confused: Don't you just love it when a history thread bumps back up top. |
