Is this a SJ "Superduct"?

Here are a couple of quick picts of the air duct on my bike:

That big hole where the yellow snorkel meets the black intake Does that get bolted to the frame?

This is the intake end.

Whadda ya think? What kind of air intake is this?

To my knowledge I think its a SJBMW with stock end on it.
http://bikes.sjbmw.com/images/parts/46_lg.gif Theres the pic from their site, stock in rear. They have a scoop you can buy as well, http://bikes.sjbmw.com/images/parts/165_lg.JPG )crappy pic_ which yours doesnt seem to have.

Hope that helps.
Matt

Hey thanks! At least I know what I've got...

Now to the big question, do I bolt it to the frame through that big hole, and if so, what takes up the extra space? (Must be some kinda rubber bush or sumptin')

That, I couldnt tell ya. Never installed one, or looked close at one. I know others will be able to answer.
OR, call SJBMW, they are west coast, open for awhile still.

badger,
matts right you've got a yellow SJBMW snorkel with stock tube and stock air scoop.
Do you have the power filter?
If not, get one or at least get an aftermarket air filter.

IIRC, there's a rubber grommet that must be transfered from the old snorkel...

Yes it's a SJBMW superduct but that is the only yellow one I have ever seen! As Jeff said the "rubber goes in the big hole" where the yellow snorkel meets the black intake. There should be a steel sleeve that goes into the rubber (grommet). On the subject of mating... the snorkel with an air filter the SJBMW Power Filter is the way to go. You can use a OEM replacement K&N but as a result of the smaller filter area than the stock element the K&N does not flow any more than the stock paper filter. If you are wondering how I know this, I actually compared them back to back on a flow bench and they were virtually identical.

To all that have responded to this thread,
THIS is why I like this board. Where else could I go and get so many double meanings about something that sucks and protects
Way to go guys.

Is a SJBMW Power Filter compatible with Lennie's Induct? How much do those power filters generally run?

Cool. Guess that's one more missing bit of hardware... Thanks all.

The yellow looks like a home spray job (not too even).

Oh yea, the bike does in fact have a K&N Powerfilter fitted as well.

Thanks again

dannyleo,
I've been told it is.
As for how much look on their web site for prices.
But FYI we have a formula for hp/$ which states that for every horse power increase you will pay $264. If you pay less you got a deal, if you paid more....oh well.
Their is a hp increase.

Compatible, uh, well I've got VanderBlat/chip, Lennies, SJPowerfilter and it runs just duckie!
Not much of a compatability issue here methinks...your just making it all breath better...but I'm no flowbench dude, I just ride it.
