filter question
Question : is there somebody out there who has any experience (positive or negative) with air filters directly mounted to the throttle bodies of an S, instead of using the standard S-airbox ?
(for example, in the “old days” it was a common use to mount stub stacks directly to the carburetors, when tuning a BMW, or any other bike or car engine. I did similar to my Mini SU-carburetors ; I mounted 2 separate K & N filters on top of the carbs, and this mod gave a massive improvement (in combination with the correct carburetor needles…). It is only ‘a bit’ noisy…) Ron. or : Mini carbs & filters :

Beware of noise torque. I would expect a loss of power or driveability on a "modern" engine without some dyno time.

That worked well in the past for two reasons.
1) most motors weren't as well tuned as a system and gains were relataively easy 2) in cases where you're looking for more power and don't care about lower end response. No easy compensation via jets and needles on these either.
