Parry Sound Ride July8-10

Just wanted to know who's going?
Robert and I will be planning a ride schedule before the event. We are going to have set meeting times at locations so that everyone can ride at there own pace(so I don't get lost again) and we can all meet up for lunch.
Herb and Roger mounted on their new GS's will be allowed!
Too bad on the rough roads up there I will probably only see a rear fender for 20 seconds as I'm left in their wake.
Im hoping Roger can confirm if the world famous wine and cheese party on Friday is still going to happen.

This year there will be a lot of couples so we will be doing some more scenic routes but there will be enough twisties for the maniacs!(DAN and JEAN).

Maniac ...who you callin' a maniac??

I'll admit that Jean and I do like a somewhat 'frisky' pace .... you should have been there a couple of weeks ago when a bunch of us were down in Virginia and West Virginia on those twisty backroads they have.

I'm supposed to spend that weekend with 'the boss' .... I'll see if she's up to going ...she'd enjoy it and it'll slow me down too I'm meeting Jean for beer and wing night tonight so I'll ask.

i'll be there, hopefully on my S, which is going back into the shop again for it's 4th rebuild in 6 weeks. look for a very tall, nordic-looking guy in a kilt- that'll be me. or look for me tearing up the curves on McDougal; either on my red S, a blue k1200rs or a grey and cream striped r1150rs. three weeks, I can't wait!
cheers, Lance

We will try and get maps via email to everyone about a week before the event.I can't get a hold of Roger and Joanne, I suspect they are cruising on the new GS.I'm pretty sure the wine and cheese party is on.
Dan it would be good if you bring the boss as it seems this year there will be a lot of people two up.We probably will do a bit longer of a ride with some scenic routes.518 is a must as it seems the squids are shying away from the real mans road and it will leave it open for us.You should hear them on other sites, "its to bumpy, its to sandy, there's bears on the road'WIMPS.

"its to bumpy, its to sandy, there's bears on the road' WIMPS.

The bumps and the sand and the bears are there to make things interesting .... anyone can ride a nice clean road.... why not just go to the track, speaking of which, what's that famous line from HST, 'the track is for punks, we are road people, we are cafe racers'!!

Gigantic, when I see a really tall guy in a kilt I'll fight the urge to run the opposite direction and I'll come over and say Hi.

Allright already! JoAnne and I will be passing around the usual bottle of Ripple screw top wine and have scraped together a bottle of Cheese Whiz to go with it. From 6:00 p.m. on Friday July 8th at the usual place. Enough said. See you there.

Finally, a sign of life from Roger ....where the heck have you been?

Did I hear right, you got rid of the S and bought a GS?

Roger still have his "S"?

I am planning the BMWMOA Rally that month as well, so I dont think I'll have the cycles to attend the PSBR this year. :-(

Dan....rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Off riding in Mexico. Traded in my S and my F650GS for a new 12GS that I am tricking out now. The new bike covers off what the other two did and very well too. Kept my F650 Funduro. So, now it is one high tech big touring enduro bike and another smaller one. The small simple one I can tear apart and put back together easily with two spoons and a rusty can opener if need be. Will see you guys soon. Cheers!

I was down for a week in WV a couple of weeks back with a bunch of guys .. and a lot of GS's ...... swapped a few times and really liked the new motor. Went on a ride near Montreal with a gand and there were 22 GS'S there!

I had a serious lust for one but I found the windshield and seat need work, and I think the bars are too high but besides that a good bike. My lust has waned and I'll keep the S with the barbacks and lower pegs, it's a really good riding position now except the low pegs are a bother in fast corners. I think I'll carry the regular pegs on trips like that and switch when I get there

The boss is giving me a hard time about us going to a house that we can have for ourselves on Big Rideau Lake for a 'romantic weekend' so I'm not sure about Parry Sound. I'm trying to decide if I should take her on vacation the end of July so if I do the weekend thing with her I can get the two weeks off to go to Colorado, Montana etc. by myself .... she couldn't do a long ride like that two up. I hear Colorado calling my name. Otherwise it's with her and the east coast .... Montreal to Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine to Bar Harbour, ferry to Yarmouth, Cape Bretton and The Cabot Trail, Newfoundland. Decisions, decisions ... Relationships sure make life difficult

oh man! my wife can't wait to get rid of me... tell her that any weekend that you spend together is a "romantic weekend" and that there's only one sportbike rally.

i've pulled out my old Bob & Doug MacKensie records, to polish up my Canadian. I'm leaving tomorrow a.m.
Take off, eh!

I'm in the midst of doing the old gearbox output seal and just because its fun the rear pivot bearings. My leak was so bad that the oil inside the paralever was splashing contaminated gunk up on the bearings.Splines fine , input seal fine, generally at 61,000km everything was pretty good.
I can tell you my next purchase is a proper bike work stand, the planks, jacks and bungee cords are just not cutting it.

So I'll be in Parry Sound , but maybe once again as a passenger on my wifes bike(its scary back there!).
Looks like the weather is going to be great and after the ride the same guy as last year is having the homemade Indian food buffet for $10,can't wait!

Sounds like fun, on the back again, eh! I haven't seen that bike of yours in a long time ... sure you still own one ?

Last weeknd up in Calabogie my alternator belt broke .. got about 25 miles till I had to hold on to Jean's saddlebag and get towed ... that was fun .... just about pulled my arm out of the socket ..... saddlebag stayed on though.

My motivating factor to get my S done is so I don't have to sit on the back of Michelle's bike.I find being a passenger terrifying, especially when where going at a good clip.Having her bounce the rev limiter in 5th a couple of time was scary, oh did I tell you its even more fun when your on heavy painkillers!NOT!

I know what you mean ... after I dropped my bike at a friends I had to sit on the back of Jean's bike for the ride home ... it's weird sitting back there, now I've got more sympathy for for the passenger.
