I like to answer this question with categories, rather than actual bikes.

I'm not really interested in owning any antiques. Only modern, rideable bikes. I barely even tolerate carburetors anymore.

So I think I need to own a:

Sport Tour bike: S
Naked bike: Triumph Speed Triple
Dual Purpose bike: Aprilia Caponord

all three of the bikes i want aren't available yet.

there's a 2-wheel drive street bike i've been lusting over for a while. never ridden anything that pulls harder out of a corner.

there's a nice sport bike with fly-by-wire and active suspension that's so uber-techno, it adjusts footpegs, windscreen and seat height based on ground speed. plus other tricks.

...and there's a hybrid gas/electric that pulls SO hard from a light that it'll probably never make it to the dealerships (then again, the R-1 is available...).

fortunately, none of my choices will see light-o-day for at least 4-5 more years, so i have time to save up my pennies.

the yamaha 2-wheel drive dirt bike is in it's second year of production and the '06 WR 450F 2-Trac will probably be available by mid-fall.
plus, i hear they've done a bit more polishing on the bike....not that it needed much.

Piece of cake:

1. 1929 Indian 101 Scout-Probably the oldest bike that you can still use on modern roads.

Ducati 750SS after a ride on one at the age of 18 it seared itself in my brain

A Palmelli SFC 870 Laverda re engineered in England from a stock SF750.

I want my S back, but if the new R1200S is out anytime soon it may be a good replacement. That way I will have something to fiddle with and retain the Ducati and Laverda as they are.

If it was not only about money.

1) 2006 K1200S (custom painted M3 Silver, like my R111S)

2) Britten V1000 (for track days, you know)

3) Brough Superior SS100 Alpine Grand Sport (to take out and outshine everything on the road once in a while)

Go to www.advmoto.com and see the goodies. Yes those are "special" forks for the weight of the GS.

That GS with standard forks is slated for limited production by BMW. It is an attempt to create a more serious dirt oriented version of the GS. Standard forks are utilised to enable a longer suspension travel than the telelever was capable of.

I doubt if they will do a R1150GS with standard forks the HP2 is the GS with standart forks air suspension and a small tank.Only made for a very small group of hardcore BMW GS freaks that just have to be on a beemer when they do hardcore of road stuff.If I had the cash I probably would wanna be among that crowd though.
